Who is obUSD for?

The Optimistic builder Dollar depends on a few key roles and participants to work. These are;

  • Approved Optimism builder grant recipients (With an Atlas profile, only from OP governance season 6 onwards)

  • Optimism Citizens and Guest Voters (Everyone that received a retro funding voter attestation Schema #448)

  • Treasury managers looking for impact-aligned yield strategies (Optimism Collective-aligned treasuries that are willing to hold obUSD within their treasury)

  • Supporters of public goods in Web3 and development of the Superchain.

OP grant council-approved grant proposals (Yield recipient)

To be eligible for receiving yield from the obUSD protocol, a project must meet two key criteria:

  1. Grant Approval: The project must have been approved by the Optimism Grant Council. This approval is issued on-chain as an attestation (schema #638).

  2. Community Endorsements: The project must also receive at least three endorsements from individuals who hold a valid Optimism attestation — such as Citizens or RetroPGF badge holders.

These endorsements can be submitted through the cohort page on obdollar.xyz using our attestation interface. Once both conditions are met, the project is automatically added to the yield cohort and becomes eligible to receive monthly distributions.

This process ensures that yield flows only to projects that are both officially recognized and community-supported, reinforcing Optimism’s values of collective decision-making and builder empowerment.

If you do not see your project on the cohort page in the 'eligible' tab but have an approved grant througIf you don’t see your project in the “Eligible” tab on the cohort page — but you’ve received an approved grant through Charmverse — we recommend reaching out to the Optimism Grant Council. It’s possible that the on-chain grant approval attestation has not yet been issued for your project.h charmverse. We recommend reaching out to the grant council for an answer on the grant approval attestation issuance to your project.

Optimism Citizens and Guest voters (Endorsers)

To endorse a project for inclusion in the yield-receiving cohort, a user must hold a Retro Funding Voter attestation (Schema #599). These attestations are issued to Optimism Citizens and Guest Voters, who play an active role in RetroPGF rounds.

Endorsements serve as an additional layer of community governance. They help ensure that only projects which are actively building — and have earned the trust of engaged Optimism voters — are added to the cohort and become eligible to receive yield.

By endorsing a project, you're signaling your confidence in its value and your commitment to the Optimism ecosystem.
