Cohort creation
Explain the role of retro funding voters / badgeholders and how they are essential to add another layer of social verification on the promise of projects in delivering and completeing their grant.
What makes obUSD unique is its cohort system, which determines who gets to receive the generated yield. A project becomes a member of the cohort when it meets two conditions:
Grant Council Attestation: The project is officially approved as a grantee by the Optimism Grant Council (Season 6 onwards) and has received a grant approval attestation from the Optimism Grant Council.
Endorsements: The project receives at least three endorsements from Optimism Citizens or Guest Voters through the cohort creation page on obdollar.xyz.
Once a project meets both criteria, it's automatically added to the cohort. Membership lasts for 10 months from the time of attestation.
Example: A developer team receives an official grant approval for Season 6. They then gather three endorsements from active Citizens via our endorsement portal. The protocol validates the attestation and endorsements and automatically includes the team in the active cohort. This team now receives a share of the total yield dedicated to the active cohort for the next 10 months.
